Is ClassBox really free?
Yes. There are no adverts, no accounts, no paid tier and no trial. The domain and the hosting are paid for by one teacher-developer, and the source is public under the GPL.
Do I need to sign up?
No. There is nothing to register for and no email to hand over. Open a tool and start using it.
Where do my students' names go?
Onto the device you typed them on, and nowhere else. Class lists are saved in your browser's own storage, so they are never uploaded to a server and nobody else can read them.
Does ClassBox work without internet?
Yes, after your first visit. All six tools are stored on your device, so they open and run when the school wifi drops. You can also install ClassBox to your home screen and open it like an app.
Can I use it on the classroom projector?
That is what it is built for. The wheel, the student picker, the stopwatch and the countdown each have a fullscreen mode with type large enough to read from the back of the room.
Is there any tracking or advertising?
No adverts and no cookies. The only thing measured is an anonymous count of page visits, with nothing that identifies a visitor or a device.
